Proposal 2 and the Fate of Black America

I know its old news but sadly it is true. Proposal 2 was passed in Michigan during the last election (about 2 and a half weeks ago).
For those not familiar with what proposal 2 is, it’s a ban on affirmative action. Affirmative action is pretty much a policy that gives preference to minorities (African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, the handicap, women, etc). It can be in the form of prioritized acceptance into schools, in getting government contracts, some form of employment and vocational training.
A couple years back (in my late teens), I was against it because when I first heard about it I was told “proposal 2” was a policy passed to give black people that extra push, give them priority over other people in the admission process in schools and all that. Now I’m black, and I had a problem with how that was worded because I thought why did we need to be focused upon, are they trying to say we were stupid? And we need helping getting into colleges?
