The NaijaLive Project is meant to be an interesting, laid back and fresh new approach to building an active Nigerian community on the Internet and encouraging Internet usage among Nigerians.

OK Yes, we agree every other guy out there is also trying to do the exact same thing. But, this one is going to be different. We promise.

All that we just need from you is understanding, A LOT of patience and ideas. We are not out to cross, offend or compete with anybody.

Sometimes we like to think of the NaijaLive Project as a lazy man’s project. This is not because we intend to do a shabby job but because we hope to do a very good job but we intend to take our time doing it. The NaijaLive Project is not in a hurry.

The minds behind NaijaLive are strong proponents and followers of the ideals of Open Source, Freedom of information and Web 2.0. These ideals summed up in two words are simplicity and freedom.

In this Project, we intend to create one huge clump of interconnected Nigerians actively interacting with each other and sharing information and ideas. We want to be connected to every Nigerian and Nigerian related website on the Internet.

The Project follows a nodal network approach where every Nigerian shall have free access to each node and have the potential to interact with communities on other nodes. We are not stopping at blogs alone.

What does all this mean? In simpler terms, we want to build several communities for every niche on the known Internet that apply to Nigeria. Think Myspace+Facebook+del.icio.us+digg+Blogger+Yahoo!+MSN+Google+Orkut+Any other ideas from you guys+Any other ideas from you guys+Any other ideas from you guys.

Lofty dreams? Big dreams? High hopes? Yet-another-new-group-of-losers (Yangol)? Yeah we know and we agree to all this. That is the exact reason why we are not in a hurry. Not at all. We need to get this right and we don’t have a choice but to do things gradually. Plus sometimes we need to wait for technology to catch up with our ideas. And so we have made plans that would ensure that the domain is registered for the next 10 years, so then we can call these first 10 years NaijaLive phase one.

The NaijaLive Project is not a commercial venture and we are not trying to compete with anybody. Further more it is a very friendly project and we are not out to prove anything. We don’t want to offend any body and we would appreciate if we are not offended. We want everybody to be a part of this thing but participation is not mandatory nor necessary. Whosoever enjoys any of our services is free to use it for as long as it is available. We have repeated (and will keep repeating) that we do not have anything close to a perfect service and as such, we BEG for your feedback, ideas and support to make our services better.

We recognise that while our methods and services may appeal to many, it cannot satisfy EVERYBODY. We do not know it all and we are very very willing to learn. And ultimately if a project is deemed by general community consensus to be poor, we will not hesitate to modify it as necessary or withdraw it entirely. What ever errors we may have made so far have not been intentional and if we have crossed anyone, then we tender an unreserved apology.

The NaijaLive Project may still be in its early infancy but the minds behind it are very much advanced in thought and knowledge.

The Project is run by a Petroleum engineer, a civil engineer and a Micro Biologist who have devoted most of their spare time to the Project since January of this year. They have lives. Busy lives. They have careers. Tasking careers. Yet they find time from their busy schedules to work on the Project because they believe in the power of ideas and information. And what better tool than the Internet?

The uniqueness of this Project stems from the fact that the team understands that nobody knows it all, therefore we are more than willing to learn from anybody that is willing to teach. And of course receive help from anybody that is willing to give it. We are open and we are not in a hurry.

You have a cause?, we want to promote you. You have a website? we would like to showcase you. You are a blogger? We want to read you. You are a coder? We want to involve you.

At this stage, the true nature of the network is yet to reveal itself but we hope that with time people will come to appreciate what we are doing.

The NaijaLive Project is meant to be community driven because we believe that this is the only way we can grow. And we need your help.

If you are smart, we need your ideas.

If you are a coder, we need your hacks.

If you are a blogger, we need your posts.

If you are a webmaster, we need your links.

If you are a professional, we need your advice.

If you are a social networker, we need your bookmarks.

And if you are a millionaire, we need your donations :D

We also want to share what we know. For those who wish to follow the Project’s development, check our (not always up to date :D ) Developer Logs. We have made the technology which we are using public for all to see. And if we can find the time, we will gladly answer any questions.

PLEASE HELP US TO IMPROVE, EVERYONE. WE DEY BEG UNA!

CAVEAT!!!
